Dave, ring Bill Thompson up at Southern Metal Spinners on 618 8382 6990.  Let him know what is going on.  I know he hates it when his products don't turn out right.  Definitely tell him I asked you to call.

Cheers

In WA, during fire restriction periods (generally November to 1st April but can change) you can't burn any solid fuel, which includes Heat Beads.   Sad

Right at this minute I can drive 10km up the road to the next shire, bush camp in a Conservation Park and have a wood fire in the provided ring. whooohoooo!

However, here in the middle of a city I can't use Heat Beads on my cement veranda which is the full length of my house, with 4 foot of cement slabs out from that before the lawn area.  STOOOPID city council!   Huh

Even my fireman had to admit the situation is insane when I sulked all this week (I still can't light Heat Beads though)

The Camp Oven Mate is great ... however I'm still nervous around the big gas ring burner.
Didn't help when a loose fitting gave my teen a bit of grief - just singed hairs luckily
I got really jumpy about using the gas ring (again).

It's strange because I have no problem with the 3 burner portable gas stove   Undecided

The judge's decision is final... unless the 3rd umpire is called for... or a facebook campaign goes viral !!!

Our single burner cast gas ring we use for cooking..has a brass valve.that only adjusts 1/4 turn....its too sensitive to adjust so a camping store chap suggested a cooking ring brass control valve....its just a gate valve..attached to the origional valve......but Rosie loves it as you can adjust the flame now from 1" to a pin head........it doesnt turn gas off...so you still need to use origional valve for that.......I can take a pic of it if any are interested..cause its brass its not cheap.....$25.. I think

Yes please Dave!
I use a match head size flame in the JCOM when I bake bread on a warm day.
Trying to control the flame with that lever is guaranteed to encourage cuss words!
