Hi All,
I have a hankering to cook up some 'beef cheeks' for 6 good eaters. Anyone have a recipe they will share? Or point me to one on the forum…
Thanks,
Sue

I thought there was a photo of mine on here but cannot find it.  I love beef cheeks but cannot understand why Woolies hide them in the dog food section.

This one has a distinct Italian flavour and very yummy

Beef Cheeks
Dash of port
Chopped Tomato - can use canned if you like but fresh is better
Sliced onion
Black Olives
Salt & Pepper
Little stock - stock cubes & water

Cook for a good hour and a half at least and the meat will melt in your mouth.  I sometimes marinate the cheeks in the port for a few hours if I have the time.

Good one Derek,
This is one cut of beef that I can't resist, hard to get at times a special order from my butcher. Easier to get in the bigger centers. Marinate in port over night spot on.

I saw these been cooked in the pressure pot on MKR the other night and I thought these would be good cooking in one of my Camp Ovens. This is one of the cuts I have never tried to cook so if I can get some today, that might change.

Thanks Derek! They look delicious, I will definitely give them a go, and marinate in port for a few hours before cooking.
One last question…1 cheek per person?

Well getting beef cheeks in Atherton today was a failure, three different shops none had any available.
I have ordered some for next week, I hope.
So the next best option was some shin, good thick pieces, so here is todays result.

I used red wine, packet of beef stock, olives, baby carrots, celery, mushrooms, onions, a tin of diced tomatoes and the shin, which I browned up in the camp oven first and added the whole potatoes in the last hour of cooking. I also marinate the beef in some of the wine and a few herbes.

It is a mix of a recipe from Derek and Me, and it was beautiful, full of flavour, all I had with it was come crusty bread.

I used one of my 14” ovens to cook it in.

...

adding the potatoes.

...

None on the plate, to good to wast time taking photos. Smiley

Now I just have to get the beef cheeks. Wink

In Woolworths they always have them at the ones around Brisbane.  They are vacuum packed and generally near the oxtail, liver and heart which generally is in the dog food section.

I must be a good puppy.  Grin Grin Grin Grin

That is a nice looking stew mate.  Well done
