G'Day
Anyone know where to get a "decent" heavy trivit for a 10 - 12 inch oven.  I'm looking for one to sit im my old electric frypan and give the heat beads some airflow...!!

I have tried a couple of normal ones but unsurprisingly the heat gets to them...something made out of 3/16 or 1/4 inch rod would be nice..

Cheers
Rob

I bought mine from Getaway Outdoors, but I am sure other camping stores would stock some as well.

I have one upside down in the frypan, over this I have some expanded mesh with slots cut into it so it sits a couple of millimetres off the base of the frypan. Then the camp oven sits on the 'legs' of the trivet.

I also use them 'right way up' to stack camp ovens on top of each other

You could make your own like lots of people on the forum have done, frequently from old horse shoes etc

I used this for the first time on the weekend. It was bought from a kitchen manufacturers showroom.

you can see where I cut off the corners to fit in a 12'' campoven. it sits about 40 mm high.

At $11.99 each and $40 plus for postage I don't think so  Wink

Bloomin Eck - they don't weight THAT much

Just looked at the Hillbilly one and they want over $25 - ridikulus!

I paid around $7 for mine - and you've seen what they can do.
Buggered if I can find them online anywhere though

I will pop into Getaway's tomorrow and see if I can get manufacturers/stockists/part number details and post them up for posterity!

Contacted getaways via facebook - the lass who got back to me said she couldn't find the ones I bought on the system and sent a link to the Oztrail ones that swivel in the middle to 'fold flat' (they look identical to the $23 plus freight Lodge ones)

Went in to my local store to see if they still had them but all that was on the shelf were the oztrail ones.
Looks like mine just became very precious and gawd help any male in this household who doesn't treat them nicely!

Here is the ones I have - they have handled everything I've thrown at them so far in the last 3 years or so.

I have half a dozen of those ones LG.  Bought the whole stock in a camping shop as they were only $7.50 each.

What price the Oxtrail ones and yes, they are similar in design to the Lodge ones.

Derek, the oztrail ones were only $7.95 but I really prefer the full circle ring instead of the '4 corner' style.

I'm also put off the oztrail ones because of that centre pin where it swivels ... I see it a weak point that will break when I least want it too.  Probably not an issue in real life and just my weird brain acting up, but I don't like it!

If you ever want to sell any of the ones like mine... please offer me first refusal!   Smiley
