Weekend of 2 & 3 November 2013. and some days either side of it.

Mark this date in your diary if you want to join us in a camp oven gathering on the Western lower slopes of the Snowy Mountains in November.

There will be a small contingent of us from Queensland travelling down at this stage.  Aart has just told me he has leave approved.

We are yet to make a definite decision on actually where however will be in the general vicinity of Talbingo or Tumut.

Will be an area where caravans can be towed and where we can have a fire.

Stay tuned for further information.  Wink

Things have gone quiet on this COG, is it still on ? I've mentioned it to all my CO friends (3) and they are keen to go.
Has the exact site been decided on, Talbingo or Tumut.

Yep it is still on.

PD, do you know the area???  I was hoping to get down there last week on my trip to the snow to check out a few areas to camp but time didn't let me.

Can you recommend a site???

Many years since I've been thru there Derek. The "Camps Australia Wide 5" book doesn't mention Talbingo and shows the two camps at Tumut as day use rest areas, maybe Lady J can tell us more.

Looks like the Jounama Creek Camping Area near Talbingo in the Kosciosko National Park may be the place.

Read about it here - http://www.wildwalks.com/camping-in-nsw-parks/south-coast-and-highlands-campsite....

Free to camp, no park fees and will take caravans for those amongst us who need some comfort.

Being National Park we will need to carry all wood in with us but if everyone brings some then we should be ok.

Denis sent me these pics.  He may be able to tell us more.

What are your thoughts??????

Hi,Jounama  creek camping ground is app. 8 klms from Talbingo where all services are available [except a Dr.].Three dams are available.jounama dam can be fished.but no boats allowed.   Blowering and Talbingo dam has great fishing, boats can be used on these dams. Tumut [our home town] is 40 klms on the Snowy Mountains Highway in one direction.in the other direction 40 klms has you in the high country with many things to see.
