We won't suffer for lack on numbers, I know of six other couples not connected with COCIA who are keen to come and have a look.
Looking forward to it, we'll be there Thursday hopefully.
Rob.

Getting close now.  If you haven't yet made plans then start today.

For thos coming or planning to come here is the link to NSW Rural Fire Service with details of fire bans.  I see Tumut and the Southern Slopes are currently in the green so looking good.

With the fire bans recently it wasn't looking good for the COG.

Received the email below today following an enquiry I made.

Still looks ok

Quote:
Hi Derek,

Unfortunately we will not know until closer to the date that you arrive if you will be able to have campfires. NPWS had placed a ban on campfires in the bad conditions this pass week, but as it has been lifted at the moment, you will need to check before you plan to light your fire on the day you arrive. Conditions can change so quickly, so if you are able to check just before you travel we will be able to advise if there is any Kosciuszko National Park Fire Ban.

Even if there is no Park Fire Ban, you will need to check daily whilst you are here to see if the NSW Rural Fire Service has declared any Total Fire Ban (Toban) in our area, Southern Slopes for most of NorthernKosciuszko National Park and Monaro Alpine for the Southern Kosciuszko National Park. Their website address for Fire Bans is: http://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/dsp_content.cfm?CAT_ID=1109

I hope this information assists you with your plans.

Regards

I spoke to a friend last night who is camped on a private property at Talbingo, she was saying it is very green there with no fire risk but of course things can change.
If things go belly up we will cook on gas, no big deal.

Wooohooo only a couple of weeks to go.

On the countdown now.  Car in for 40,000 service this week.

I see the southern slopes have yet to have a fire ban so all looking good still.

Anyone else going to be able to make it?????

G'day Derek.
Chris and I were pretty keen to attend, its been a while.
Intended continuing on to Sale to visit my sister (long time no see) but it turns out they will be in SA buying yet another vintage tractor, which is their hobby.

So considering the 2&1/2 day trip down, present weather conditions, things to do on the van before next years WA goldfields trip, have decided we wont get to this COG.

To those who do go, have a good safe trip with plenty of (as per usual!) CO tucker and suitable beverages to go with it. Smiley
Will be looking for pics with familiar faces.
