Well my wife and I finished up managing  the Pier Restaurant in Hervey Bay a few weeks ago so we decide to have a break before starting any new jobs... So we went out west to St.George for a few days than out to Warra on the Condamine river.. I missed the clear water there a few months ago but with little rain since i thought i might be in luck for a spin for a Murry Cod but 2 days before i got there Warrick had rain and it came down and made the water a little dirty.. But I still gave it ago and it was very quiet but I did manage an 18lb Murray Cod and a few Yellowbelly and Catfish.. My daughter even managed a few and her first ever silver perch.. We got 4 nice silver Perch which I have not caught in years so it is a good sign that the river is healthy. On the last night we had a camp oven cook up and a fish on the river and I caught another little cod on a crayfish and let him fight another day. I even managed to chase a pig while we were there about 70kg.. The kids had a ball..It was hard to come home and face reality

Wow, we had dinner at your place several weeks ago.  Were in Hervey Bay for a week.

Is that fishing on private property or can anyone go there.

Damn nice cod for sure.

I have never caught a Murray Cod but years ago used to catch a lot of Mary River Cod (a sub-species of the Murray Cod) in the Traveston stretches of the Six Mile Creek south of Gympie Qld.

I am talking 30 to 35 years ago now.

The Six Mile is a tributary of the Mary River.  Biggest I ever saw was 22 pounds (as they were way back then) but my personal best was 8 pounds.
