Dept of Parks and Wildlife (DPaW) campsite about halfway between Norseman and Esperance.

Turn west off Coolgardie-Esperance Highway 56km south of Norseman onto the Lake King–Norseman Road for 29km, then south on to Peak Charles Road for 21km.

No fresh water - You must be fully self sufficient.

Recommend Spring and Autumn - too wet in Winter (road closures), too hot in Summer

Very corrugated road, poorly maintained.

No facilities other than (new) long drop toilets, large fire rings and picnic tables.

Currently free  to stay there [2013]

Fantastic place to explore.  There is a 'day use' area near the base of Peak Charles as well as the campground.

Early morning is the best time to trek up the 650m orange granite peak which was described to us as a scramble, rather than a hike.  A few 8 - 12 yr olds were totally exhausted by the time they got back but were quite proud of the cairn they made up top.  Their previously very energetic mum was certainly looking forward to a rest!

Also in the park are other granite outcrops, eg Mt Eleanora, a kaleidoscope of plants and numerous animals such as emus.  We spent 3 days exploring here before moving on.

The judge's decision is final... unless the 3rd umpire is called for... or a facebook campaign goes viral !!!

It sure was Jeff.  We only planned on staying overnight but had a fantastic time exploring.

That is where Chief discovered his bright pink giant spiders!   Cheesy
