I have been in discussion with the GHHD Committee and have agreed to oversee the running of the Camp Oven Cook Off for this event.

We are discussing how the day will happen however one thing that has been agreed to is that the definition of a team, which was originally defined as 3/4 people will change to allow a team (husband/wife or partners) of two.

A main fire will be lit and coals will be supplied.  Participants will not be allowed to light their own fires.

As the cook off is to be in tune with the era of the working horse HeatBeads will not be allowed and all cooking will be carried out using coals.

I hope to have some information on prizes in the not distant future.

Sounds good Derek.

So you are the Steward,  but not the Judge.

...

Team nominations were due in by last Friday and as no nominations were received by then the committee have decided to cancel the cook off.

The committee will look at running it in conjunction with the Heavy Horse Field Day in 2015 and will advertise it accordingly.

Are there any Camp Oven Cook Offs held in Far North Queensland to anyone's knowledge?

I had a feeling that something may have been done, or continues to be done at Mareeba.

Cheers
