Came across a flower pot at the market this moring, decided I could turn it into a stew pot.

Branded A. Kenrick & Sons, think it says 2 Quarts.

Any one have history on these

Just be carful taking that paint of mate, it could be lead based make sure you ware the right mask, it should clean up ok post some pics when your done  Smiley

Could be what was known as a "Jam Pan" though the jam pans that I have seen are usually shallower.
Nice find all the same.
Just did a quick search for jam pans, was looking for old ones, but only found mostly modern ones.

Its interesting in respect of the bail arm, only pivots towards the poring spout and not the tipping handle

Well after some minimal research I dont know if it will ever hold food, the pouring spout concerns me was it for commercial purposes or food cooking.

If it was a jam pan as Im pretty sure it is, most households of times gone by would have had one, well any one who made jam would own one anyway. They were made wide and shallow to aid in evaporating off the excess moisture from the jam and probably chutneys, that sort of thing.

IN retrospect it is a 12 Quart capacity, removed rust has indicated a 1 preceeding the 2
