It will be bloody cold but there is nothing like sitting around a campfire in winter.

I am throwing this out there to gauge interest.  Yes late May/early June will be good for us.

I have looked at two different camp grounds so far but please add yours to the list

Kilkivan Bush Camping - http://www.bushcamping.com.au/

Barambah Bush Caravan Park - http://www.barambahbush.com.au/

Open for discussion!!!!!!!!!

We are keen but we don't plan on being home until early June. We have our nephews wedding the last weekend in June but mid June would suit us, or July.

Either place would be a good spot with the bride and I .
If it falls in with my R&R week we will be there to learn how to cook and if it's ok I would like to bring an old mate that has been around and loves his camp oven food
Cheers Brett

I have visited at all three of these places,  all are good.

But the frugal COCIA members might freak out at the camping costs................

Nothing wrong with frugality.  Means I can spend more on drinks and less on accommodation  Wink

When I die I hope my missus doesn't sell my camp ovens  for what I told her I paid for them. pd

Time to make some decisions.

Sooooo . . . weekend of 21 and 22 June.

Place - Kandanga RV Park in the Mary Valley. See report here - http://www.freecampsaustralia.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=105 ; We visited today and were very impressed.

Fires are only permitted in the communal fire place however cooking around the fire on the concrete or with using heat Beads we should have no problem.

The site has a 3 day limit on stays however I wouldn't see too much of an issue with a day or so over providing we spend a dollar in the town.

It is a free camp however they ask for a donation towards upkeep and the firewood that is provided.

Maggie and I plan to arrive on the Friday and depart on Monday and you are all welcome to join with us.

We will be back home by then so we will see if we can make it. It looks a nice spot but it's a shame the fire pit area wasn't bigger.
