A few lookers but no one has offered any suggestions so here I go:
For a newby I would buy a cheap 12" Chinese oven, look for a lid with a good lip around the rim (to hold the coals on) and one which sits nicely on the oven itself. Don't worry about legs on the pot, you can always sit it on stones or a home made stand. Season it as per directions on this site and away you go !
Once you are addicted to CO cooking you can buy an upmarket oven like a Billmans, probably won't cook any better but you will enjoy using a nice well made pot.

Rob.

When I die I hope my missus doesn't sell my camp ovens  for what I told her I paid for them. pd

Welcome to the forum IWannaTry. I too think go with a cheaper 12" cast iron oven to start with. You can often pick them up 2nd hand quite cheaply.

If you are one for doing the "out of the way" country markets of a weekend, you may also pick up a bargain, as I once did.  If you do spot one, give it a good check over for cracks — ask if you can fill it full of water to test it out first.  Smiley

Cheers

agree with most replies. Go for a 12" oriental origin camp oven to start with.

Make sure that the lid sits flat on the base, other wise you can get smokey flavours when baking.
