Following the COG in Victoria we have 4 to 5 weeks to get back home for the wedding and am thinking of coming home following the Darling River.

Anyone done a trip along that way recently???

Derek.
That is a great trip up the Darling and we crossed the river at Wilcannia 10 days ago on our way home from WA.
Sadly, the river is back down to a series of puddles. Looks really dismal compared to when we regularly fished it years ago.
But whatever, you will still get a cold beer at Tilpa and Louth also I think the picnic races will be on in Louth mid August. And that is a bush spectacle for sure.

I suspect you may have already seen this webpage.
It is on my bucket list and saved on my computer for quite some time.

We just recently came up the river from Tilpa to Bourke. I have previously done the run from Wilcannia to Menindee.

Both times we've travelled the east road (there's another on the other side of the river). The road is much better than some I've travelled along away from the river. Camping at Menindee on the lake is free and great! Camping at Louth can be across the river from the pub or a bit further north on the eastern side. Both are free and good! Showers and toilets available at a cost at the pub or across the road. I don't know about camping at Tilpa, had one beer and left quick sticks, place just didn't appeal to me. Road could be 'fun' if it rained and remained open!

We hope to be staying at Warrawong on the Darling caravan park at Wilcannia on Monday the 8th of September. Then traveling up to Burke along the Darling.
The road has just been graded for the Louth races which were on Sat. 9th. August.
We will be on our way to North Queensland. Cheers Brian.
