I went into the metal traders and they wanted $50 for a 6 x 3 sheet of 50 x 50 mm mesh and they wouldn't cut it so I'll have to scour the dump.

Hi Seamus, the recycle shop at the local tips sell the bbq grill plates for about 3 bucks each. They are nice and sturdy.

Gotta pick The Boss up tomorrow and bring her home for the weekend so will check out the Cairns Buy Back place on the way home.  The Boss has two more days of treatment next week — ending six long weeks of it.  We're going to try and do the belly pork entry on Saturday.

Cheers

Bit of a shuffle around this morning and starting to get everything into one space now.  Just need to start using it all again.  I suppose this will be enough to break the big drought up here at "Australia's Rain Capital".  I've never seen the yard so brown in the last 30 years.

Cheers

Very brown up here in Cairns as well, Seamus. Your new set up should help your crook back. Looking good.
Stubby.

Neat idea! My son was throwing out a basic old BBQ recently. It should still be there. Thanks.

Do they come with anything to imitate legs on the chinese ovens Derek? Or do you have to make them your self? Also did you order it online or can you buy them local somewhere? All the local camping shops got smashed by the floods and are still setting back up.

I bought this one online from Cabelas in the US.  wasn$25 off when I ordered mine.

http://www.cabelas.com/

Just checked the shipping and it is currently about to get on a plane and head this way.

They are just a flat table with the windbreak around them.
