Been a while since I posted on the forum. Fishing hasn't been the great lately with not maay prawns in the river.
I decided to got out with a mate to a friends private property on the Mary River where you can launch a boat from & not worry about coming back after a days fishing to find your vehicle or trailer has been vadalized or tampered with.
I met my fishing mate at the locked gate to the property (I had the key) & we both proceeded to the boat launching area.
I wanted to put my esky in the boat as my lunch & cold drinks were in it.
My mate almost told me not to as it was his boat.
Glad I did.
After launching the boat we put the 2 crab pots in first tying them to the mangrove branches to stop the chance of them being washed away in the current.
Then it was throw in the anchor at the designated spot to begin fishing.

After half an hour 3 threadfin salmon were landed in the boat.
After calling it quits for the day we had landed 12 catfish & 2 bullsharks with no more hits from the salmon.
Went to get the pots & ended up with a decent buck + 3 smaller legal crabs.

I had put a couple of cold beers in the esky to drink after getting back on land.
I got bad sunburn on my face but it was worth it.

There's nothing like a good day out on the water, and if you catch a fish, it's a bonus. Well done, Greenbeast.

Good day out? I could think of plenty more descriptions for a day out like that  Cheesy

Spectacular, fantastical, explosive, rip snorter just for a few.

Geez you blokes are spoilt over that way.

I have never heard of the Mary River, but Google tells all  Smiley

Beautiful on the plate.
I dust fillets in flour & cook in hot oil.
Sometimes I crumb the fillets.
I have enough fillets to do both.  Grin

I saw fillets for sale at local seafood store just prior to Christmas for $35/kilo. Shocked

Why the difference in the colour of the threadfin? Like 2 are a silver colour and 1 it a golden colour.

I asked my fishing mate who has been fishing way longer than me & he said the threadfin which is golden in colour has just come from the sea into the river system whereas the others have been in the river for some duration.
