Furphy single jaffle iron just sold on eBay for $215.50. I thought I had it but I wasn't even close. Feeling pretty wealthy about now are you Chally Wink

LOL!!! One of ours has been carted bush for around 20 years now and hopefully it will be for another 20 or more. Smiley As they say 'made to be used'.  Wink

The second one (which we have only had for a couple of years) has just sat around home unused as a spare. Smiley

For you guys in the know, is this a genuine old Furphy or a Chinese made one that someone has welded a wire handle onto??????

I think it would have been made by Billmans.

Jeff, are yours square or round????

Was not aware that Billmans made them for Furphy.

Both of ours are double square ones Derek. Astro has a Furphy catalogue from the time when Billmans were making the Furphy products and the round jaffle irons the same as the eBay one are in it. The square ones were not. Billmans made all Furphy's cast iron products in the late 1990's I believe.

Here are three photos.

First one is the current one on eBay.   Second an old photo of what I have always thought as being an original Furphy.  Third is my Chinese one.

Interesting.

Interesting Derek. Putting aside your China made one; the other two are obviously made from different moulds. The kangaroo and koala emblems being on different halves of the irons is the most obvious thing but there are other difference in the castings as well.

Photos 1 and 3 are the same as the Furphy Jaffle iron I have here. About 6 years ago I was buying these Irons direct from the Furphy Factory. At that time if you bought 6 or more they were selling them for $26-28 a piece. From memory I sold 5 on Ebay and kept one for my self.
It was a fairly profitable phone call to find out if the factory was indeed selling them direct to the public at that time.
