I found this camp oven for sale and was wondering if this is an aussie made furphy or the chinese version? (three photos attached, i hope!)

I have noticed that some have a two digit year also stamped on the lid but this one doesn't, are the clean ones before or after a certain year? or is there no clear way to know?

IMO that oven was one of the last made before the ovens were made in China and it would have been made by the Billmans foundry.

In relation to the ovens with years marked on them Saltbush Bill is correct in that the older ovens didn't have dates on them. The ovens had dates on them from around 1989 to 1996 I think. After 1996 (?) they didn't have dates on them again.

Just Email the seller I am sure he would know where it was made  Wink Or I could tell you from what a lot of people on this site agree on is that the base was cast by Furphy and the lid was cast by Billmans foundry, when Furphy were losing intrest in cast iron. A very nice camp oven IMHO  Grin
