This photo is part of the BAYLIS COLLECTION OF PHOTOS and I think it is a ripper. We sought and received permission to post with credit.
These actual boilers and the large camp oven are believed to be currently residing in the Bungy collection. I think it is amazing to have a picture of your antique cast iron being used in the early days.  Smiley

Tell us more please   Smiley

Was Bungy alive when this photo was taken?  Cheesy

Hafta agree that it would be exciting to see one of your own ovens in the early years.

Hope it's OK to open up the photo to save on the forum.

I doubt Bungy or me for that matter was alive when this pic was taken  Smiley. Late 1800's would be my guess. I camped on this property catching pigs many years ago. Had a look around the shearers quarters in case there was some cast iron laying around but I think Bungy had already been there  Wink

I had a long talk to the curator of the museum at Boulia a few years ago. He had worked on many of the properties around there in the early days and claimed that a lot of the ovens and boilers were taken by station cooks when the properties were in decline.
That particular museum has dozens of old ovens, mostly broken or with mismatched lids but still worth a look.
Talking about museums the one at Morven had a good collection of ovens including Simpson ones until someone cut through the  wall and spirited them away in the middle of the night.

Rob.

When I die I hope my missus doesn't sell my camp ovens  for what I told her I paid for them. pd
