Found this nifty simple idea to lift your trays out of a camp oven.

Many of you here would know it from Facebook pages.

I heated up some salmon patties yesterday and tried some scones today using gas.

Punch 4 holes in a tray and connect wire. Simple and makes life easier.

Experimented using only bottom heat with these and placed two together.

Flipped them after 5 mins so nothing would burn.

Turned out OK.

I remember when Bruce and Patricia first put this up on my Facebook page and I was quite impressed.

Looks good and the scones look ok as well.

Multi grips are old school Rolly  Grin

As Molly would say " Do yourself a favour"  Smiley

You will kick yourself for not making one sooner  Wink

It must be difficult for a tradionalist like you Jeff to see camp ovens on gas.

But I bet my ba$&s that if the old timers had it close at hand, they would have used it  Cheesy

I have often thought about how to get heat on the lid using gas.

But....... This little old Millard gas cooker does have a griller that could somehow be adapted Smiley

The Camp Oven Mate http://southernmetalspinners.com.au/product/camp-oven-mate-heat-shield/ directs heat down onto the lid of the camp oven.

Well mate I guess you have to use what you can. We have done our last few cook-ups using heat beads. It has just been too hot for making a fire. Shocked Wink
