I have a question on my 4wd I have an Anderson plug on the back now I'm only guessing this should charge up whatever I'm towing but my question is as I know nothing about this stuff if I'm not towing anything can I hook up a portable solar panel to this and recharge the batteries ?

You need to know where the cables are connected and what if anything else is connected to them such as a voltage sensitive relay. 

Can have a look at Alstonville for you if you like.

My Anderson Plug is connected through a Red Arc voltage sensitive relay. So currant only travels one way. And that's out.

yep mine is same..plus I have a solenoid that cuts power to plug when ignition is off

If you can get or have a multimetre, check and see if you have a 12v at the anderson plug, the ignition in the off position. If you do then I think you could charge back to the battery.
