Santa was kind this year and I now have a 11" Aussie Oven thanks to my daughter!s. I got a custom lid made up with the gum leaves and the map of Australia with the size of the oven as I have seen the gum leaves on lids on old posts here. Will be interesting to see how the oven cooks up as I have not used aluminum before? Any tips on using. Very happy with the oven and my daughters had no problems ordering etc.

Congratulations on the new oven. I don't know anyone who uses them but don't expect it to be any different to Using spun steel.

As far as I know they don't need seasoning. Aluminium does absorb heat pretty quickly.

I expect you are going to have fun.  Looking forward to see how you go.

I have one on order but there has been a bit of a hold up due to a rush of orders so I have to wait a bit longer for it. Mine is also personalised.

Thanks Derek for the heads up. I do have a couple of cast iron ovens which I use but the aluminium is new to me. I was looking at the Kiwi oven but decided to keep it Australian. The only thing I found with this camp oven it does't have any feet so I will have to use a trivet which isn't a problem.

Interesting solution. Doesn't that scorch the tiles?

He usually scorches himself before the tiles.

Yes apparently it did fade the colour a bit. Need to put a bit of tin or something down first.

Many of us use a trivet.
