Hi everyone
I have just been given a couple of camp oven cook books.
Camp Oven cooking made easy  with Tommo.
It's his book No 3.
The other one  is  "Australian Camp Oven Festival Millmerran Qld "Welcome to camp oven Country"
It looks like it was published  for the  2000 Millmerran Festival.
I think they will be an interesting read.

cheers regards Kevvie

Kev, from memory I think both Aart and Rob (PoddyDodger) have recipes in the Millmeran one.

HI Derek
Thanks for the info
They look like good books. I got them from one of the
older fellows here in the village.

Hi Derek
I have flicked through the book I didn't see their names mentioned unless they used other names. The book  it doesn't say when it was published just a chairman named Valentine Harris thanks people  for support towards the 2000 festival.
The book's forward was written by Roger Furphy. It has a maroon cover. It also contains Tall tales, remedies and Poems.

Hi everyone
enjoy these books. The recipes look like they would be worth trying
The  Millmerran Camp Oven festival book has good recipes and some funny stories. Some about a fellow named Ned Winter, along with some old bush sayings eg. "That bloke is so slow, you have to line him up with a strainer post to see if he's moving. Grin Grin
all take care  Kev

I believe Ned Winter is credited with having started the Millmerran Camp Oven Festival.

Ned lives out at Milmerran and used to do camp oven catering.  He had quite a collection of large camp ovens at one time although retired now and I am told most of the collection has been sold off.

He has a couple of very large camp ovens on posts at the gate to his property.  I took some photos once but cant find them.  I know Jeff (Chally) also has some photos of them as well so he may be able to put them up.

Quite an interesting character.

Edit: I forgot there was some photos on the forum.  Look here - http://www.aussiecampovenforum.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1398908449
