When is a cottage pie not a cottage pie??? When it is a shepherds pie of course  Shocked

Often I see recipes that are pretty well interchangeable with ingredients listed as bot cottage pie pr shepherds pie.

This morning it occurred to me to find out what really is the difference.

Seems from what I can find out is that a shepherds pie has either lamb or mutton and a cottage pie has beef.

Any thoughts on that??????

As a kid we lived on mutton , mum always made Shepherds Pie by mincing the left over roast legs with the old hand mincer. Dont think Ive had proper Shepherds Pie for years now, should knock one up one day.
