Good Morning.
For the members who have camp stoves.
If you leave your camp stove outside at your camp site over
night, what do you do to stop it from being stolen.
or do you have any suggestions.

I have a Weber and regularly leave it out even when we are free camping and never worry about securing it.

I often see them padlocked up with chains or steel cable though.

I figure that if someone is serious enough about wanting one then they are most likely going to turn up with some sort of cutter anyway.

Have heard of full camp fridges being stolen that have been chained up.

working life. Locks were put on doors to keep the honest people out and to slow down the crims

We also tend not to lock away our camping stuff when freedom camping but I sometimes wonder if we should as we usually have a couple of good camp ovens under the awning of the caravan. If we were camped at a place with a real lot of people we would probably put them away though. We just hope we always camp with honest people.

In the CMCA they preach, "Lock it or lose it", sad when you are camped with people you trust. I always put my good ovens away in case they are inclined to wander during the night.

When I die I hope my missus doesn't sell my camp ovens for what I told her I paid for them. pd

My main concern is it when the stove has been used and trying to secure it when it is still hot to touch.

I put our campovens on a block of wood and tuck it away under the caravan behind wheel for example....the Webber we throw it bag over it...out of sight out of mind...but many times I have seen people leave every thing out..when they gone out for day....I have seen traytop utes hanging around in daylight...not camping...wonder what they are doing??

try searching for a thread on the forum about Inskip Point, Queensland . A member posted a story about theives targeting the camping area a few times a week, helping themselves to absolutely everything that wasn't bolted down. Apparently even having the the audacity to unzip, enter and rumage through some poor campers annex of their camper trailer, taking everything of value, including a generator that was hidden in a washing basket full of dirty clothes, thus leaving the unlucky people no choice but to pack up and go home because they couldn't afford to replace enough supplies to finish the holiday.
I have never had anything "borrowed " from any of our campsites either in the bush or whilst at caravan parks simply because I don't give the jerks a chance and lock up everything at the end of the day and have a chain around the Weber.
It sucks but unfortunately that is the world we live in today. Even then, a lock will only stop an honest theif.
If you don't want to have to lock your bbq up every night, buy a Ziggy. No one wants one of those. Haha. Just kidding Ziggy fans.

Its not burnt. Just really well done.

Actually haven’t heard of any negative reports coming out of Inskip for quite some time.

When it was at it’s worst I wrote to the Queensland Police Minister to ask what they were doing about it.

Got a nice reply back and I know they did increase the police presence and there were several people charged over it.
