I would suggest you could season it using any heat source.  The only thing is you need to get it very hot and any oil you use will smoke quite a bit.

If it was me and I wasn’t able to do it outside I would be more inclined to crank the oven up as high as it goes and do it in there.

Cheers.

The Bedourie oven, being made of thin spun steel and as Derek suggests, is very suited to seasoning in the home oven.

Get a parcel of meaty beef bones from the supermarket, into the oven with a sprinkle of oil, then with the lid on, dry bake on moderate/high heat.

You will need to move the bones around a bit, after 6-8hrs. you will have a nice patina of seasoning in the oven and what's more the basis of the best beef stock ever.

Simply put all the bones and deglazed residue from the Bedourie into a large saucepan, add bay leaves, peppercorns and salt, cover well with water and simmer until reduced to around 1/4.

Strain off all the residue leaving you with a very rich and full flavoured beef stock  Cheesy

I used to use lamb belly flap years ago for that Michael.  Back then it was scraps for dogs but now it has some fancy name and they charge top dollar for it.

Let us know how you go Ben.  I learned to camp oven cook in a Bedourie.

It was my first camp oven and I bought it near 40 years ago and still use it and of course the lid makes an excellent frying pan over coals.
