It was Tea when I was raised in NSW so it may be state related so you may have to say what state you was raised in.

And it was what ever the budget could afford some times very little.

Memory not what it used to be but coming from the old country (England) as a kid I have a feeling it was supper. 

Then I recall mum calling us for tea when we were young.  Yes, NSW Robert.

Now it is dinner.
