Good one Murray.

Still early in the season here so will be interesting to see if I get another clutch this year.

Hi Derek
Pretty quiet here for birds. I have not seen any wrens for a while. There are a few ducks around the lake. It looks like
the birds have breed their young and then  moved on.
regards Kev.

Hi Derek
How did your bird counting go ?
On my walking Peggy the pug this morning I spoke to the two ladies in the village who count the birds here. They told me the birds are not here this year. The day they did the count they only saw some mannikins and some red brows. There is about 15 ducks (black ducks and wood ducks) around the lake here.

Kev, I didn’t do an official count but I think a combination of some regular seed and water together with the native flowering trees seems to keep a constant number of them here.

The rosellas have left the nest.  Haven’t seen the young for a while but the two parents are still regulars.

Here are some photos.

A Sacred Kingfisher was in the yard yesterday.  Have only seen it on and off but has been around here for a couple of years.

Also this morning I noticed the chatter of a Willie Wagtail under my side verandah when I woke up.  Went out to investigate and they are building a nest there.  About 3 metres from my chair in the TV room.  Last photo was taken through the glass door.

We had 14 mm of rain since Wednesday and the place is greening up well and I expect we will see more over the next few days.

Been busy planting.  Now have a mulberry tree, brown Turkey fig tree, choko vine, two paw paw trees, red & white grape vines, yellow and black passion fruit, orange and lemon trees.

Hi Derek
Thank you very much for your photos and report.
You have been a busy chap. You are growing every thing Lesley and I enjoy. I have not seen a choko vine for years.
Yes had rain today as I was driving west bound on the logan motorway.
regards Kev
