I know they are a feral bird but a couple of pairs of Spotted Doves have been hanging around lately and I quite like the look of them.

Because of the lack of trees here Dave we don’t get them nesting yet.  I have quite a few shrubs that are getting around the three metre height so will not be long I expect.

Went out to look at the peewee sitting under the street light in it’s nest.  It is wide awake

Derek
thanks for the photo. Don't they make a great  looking nest.
I think all birds stay awake while they sit on eggs in case
they get attacked. I think it would be more dangerous for them when the light is shining.
regards Kev

They are still just sitting. No feeding young yet.

We were away from home last week so I am curious if the Koel got to lay and egg up there.  Will be watching closely at the young.

The peewees are now feeding four very healthy looking babies.  Also looks like the Koel failed to lay an egg as they are all baby peewees
