Well we have an empty peewee nest and a couple of very frantic parents around.

The highest point here is the TV aerial on the house and one of them seems to be perched there most of the time on lookout duty.

I reckon if you were to take the feathers off they would be smaller than a sparrows egg underneath.

Cute little buggers.

A small flock of seven Grey-Crowned Babblers here today.  They are infrequent visitors to our garden

What bird book do you have Kev?  I have always known the Apostlebird as a different bird altogether.

Hi Derek
my book 1981 -1982 edition of "A field Guide to the birds of
australia" by Graham Pizzey  Illustrated by Roy Doyle
I also have  A field guide to nests and eggs of Australian birds
by Gordon Beruldsen  1980 edition
and Photographic field guide Birds of Australia by  Jim Flegg.
Derek further info. The apostlebird is listed in Pizzey book separate as is the same bird as is shown in your message.
That is a bit strange but your drawing is what I know as Apostlebird

They are good books take them with me when away in the caravan
regards Kev

Have always found Apostle Birds to be very friendly little critters.

Have pulled up in a gravel pit in the middle of nowhere and within no time a flock have been hopping around us.

Great photos Dave.
