This is my take on the traditional Cornish Pasty.  From what I have been able to find out this is pretty close to it however traditionally skirt steak was used where I used rump and I used supermarket pastry

Ingredients
Steak
Potato
Swede
Onion
Salt & Pepper
Shortcut Pastry
Beaten egg for egg wash

...

Dice the steak, swede, potato and fine dice the onion and combine in a bowl

...

Cut circles from the pastry.  Wash with egg around the full side. Place an amount of filling on one side and sprinkle with salt and pepper to your taste.  Roll the other side over and crimp with your fingers.  Apply an egg wash.  Do not cut steam holes, as in a pie as the meat and vegetables cook in their own steam

...

Into a hot (around 200 degrees) camp oven, Weber Q BBQ, hooded BBQ or your oven at home and cook for 45 minutes until golden brown

...

The inside should be perfectly cooked with the potatoes and swede still firm and holding it’s shape

...

We sampled quite a few during our 10 days in Cornwall last year, every one being "voted best"!

From that, your recipe looks pretty much spot on Derek (Aart, some have black sauce in the recipe) however tradition also incorporates a "knob" of pastry moulded onto one end, its purpose being to be held by the grubby fingers of the miner as he eats the pasty then chucked at the end.

A very tasty snack is the humble pasty, only rivalled by black pudding scotch eggs  Cheesy

Not necessary Derek, perhaps only the meat.....the best ones were nice and chunky. Some maybe had turnip also, but there is a sweetness with swede that adds to the flavour  Smiley

I love these things.  So easy to make.  Tonights dinner.

My sealing twist is getting better.  Smiley
