Hi all is any one in SA trimming or cutting down any of the following fruit trees.

Apple
Cherry
Olive
Peach
Plum

Or some Red Gum

Would like the wood for my meat smoking so do not need massive trunks.

My local butcher sells all but olive chunks about  $ 14 a bag. I  did a ham last week and used apple, nice mild flavour. I can't tell the difference between apple and cherry, some hard woods are very strong.
You do not need much to get the flavour.
Have fun Robert.

Muz was told by my supplier the Olive was a bit like Mesquite but milder not the real sharpe taste. Did a bacon on Tuesday with my favourite apple and yesterday with olive. The olive one was very nice when tasted. Cheers.

Kev unfortunately I do not know any one doing wood turning but will check via media while we are locked down. Cheers

We are lucky here as well as our local butcher, Schulte, has bags of different types for sale.
