In the case of olives, on-the-whole, it is a case of treat 'em mean, keep 'em keen.  Other than keeping their shape and removing any sucker growth olives benefit from a lack of attention.

Given their North African/Mediterranean origins, dry periods aren't that detrimental, once the tree is established. - They're a good choice for lazy folk like me!

Over the last year my Dragon Fruit plants suffered terribly.

They appeared to just die from the inside out.  In the end I ripped them all out.

Was talking to a local about it and was told that the cactoblastis grub had moved into the valley and everyone was in the same boat losing cactus and dragon fruit.

As well as prickly pear which they were introduced to get rid of they also love dragon fruit.

As a result I ended up getting a few cuttings off Rory and they are now starting to shoot up the poles.

Hopefully a good season coming up as I love these ones.

Three nice reed avocados off my tree.  Been hanging quite a while and not getting any larger so decide it was either me or the flying feral.  I won.  Smiley

Now to hopefully let them fully ripen.

Going to have another go at growing a choko vine up the back.  So far this one with a healthy shoot looks good.

The last two Avocados of our trees for this season.  These are Reed Avos.

Whole garden is looking quite miserable at present due to lack of water. Drought conditions out here.

Not even sure how many tress will survive.

I love rhubarb however getting nice fresh stuff near impossible around here.

So I did some research and yes it grows here in the right circumstances.  More research and I found that you can also easily grow it in pots.  I bought the right size recommended pot and a rhubarb crown from Bunnings and thought, why not.

The crown was just a dried up clump the size of my fist with no shoots or roots when I planted it.

Here we are several weeks later and it has shot and so far it is flourishing.

It is recommended not to cut it during the first year.

Next I might try some asparagus.

Hippeastrum (?) aka known as Naked Lady, why wouldn't you grow it?

When I die I hope my missus doesn't sell my camp ovens  for what I told her I paid for them. pd
