We probably won't get away until maybe the second week of May so we won't be able to get there.

Thanks for the photos Dave. I was going to say it mustn't be hot down there with you camped out in the open but then I saw your comment that it was 34. I would be looking for shade.  Smiley

Every one has seen little blue wrens...but today I have seen 2 that have mutated ...one has white eyebrows the other has a white stripe across the back below the neck and wings...will try and photo them...but they are fast

Lovely day today but going to be crap tomorrow..
Tonight we alfoiled some spuds and roasted them on a fire

They call them leucistic Dave.  Birds losing their pigmentation and showing white or very pale colours.

I am on a few birding sites and people seeing more and more of them

I would be very interested if you could get some pics.

That is how we generally like to camp.  Well away from others or by our own.

Are you thinking of going back to Batyo Catyo Dave?  It will be the same.  No facilities there anymore though and it has been dry for years.

Those wrens are interesting.  Certainly do have those leucistic patches on them

Dave
What a great thing to happen. Years ago I was into C B radio   I would go on holidays and would meet up with people I had spoken  to on radio. Putting a face to a name. It the same when you meet people here on this forum. The only thing we don't talk to each other.

Well today is day 14 of our trip...not a lot to report except that we had visitors who stayed for dinner ...but had a serious near injury accident when sitting down at a Lion's Club supplied picnic table with dinner on the table with drinks..when the table flipped up throwing them and dinner on the ground..I have emailed the Club to tell them of my discuss and how dangerous their tables are

Yes maybe outriggers .....well today we travelled 274klms and are now tonight at Green Lake we have been here so many times in the past...but they now have a caretaker and the place has changed ...with new amimities and not a blade of grass anywhere and all the scrub has gone too..replaced with lawns...a restaurant to be built where the old lifesavers shed once stood...we are here only one night...used to stay 8-10...just not same any more

Thanks Jeff....yes we are home safely...there must been hundreds of caravans and campertrailers on the road today...heading East....

My caravan has been booked in to have replacement awning material...$940 I think they said...hoping for blue but could get blacked stripes...if thats all they can get due to manufacturers Covid delays

Please give me couple days to rest after 5.5hour drive today for more pics...Thanks

Dave there are a lot of caravans on the road up this way; most likely Victorians heading north for the winter. We plan on heading south in a couple of weeks time.

Well a year has pasted since we last went away..
apart from the new awning material we have upgraded our solar panels on the van..the 80w one we had I purchased in 2007 for $1200 when we had a campertrailer, now the van has 2 x 135w panels on the roof...1 to charge the van new 120amphour battery and the other goes to the battery in my Pajero to run the 40lt fridge via a anderson plug on the vans drawbar

next week the van gets serviced and checked over..and the Pajero serviced too..

Why? you might ask......we are planning to get away  on the 1st or 2nd May...for 5-6 weeks..somewhere

We are thinking heading south but who knows where

Will post when we get there...  Grin Cheesy

Haven’t used them yet but I just bought some glow in the dark guy ropes. Not for any reason just I needed some new ones. Be interested to see what they do look like at night though.

Speaking of tent pegs a few months ago I bought some screw in pegs at Bunnings. Just grab the drill and down they go and real easy as well.

Only used once but impressed with them.

We would enjoy the cooler weather Dave as it is still hot and humid up here. We are supposed to get a fair bit of rain this week but we will wait and see. Keep enjoying the camping.

Three days of drizzly rain and very little sun and we turned the power on to our solar hot water today.

Starting to cool down here now.  Winter is coming.  A wet one by the look of it.

Torrential here in Sydney tonight (Monday) and we were all set to leave tomorrow for the Camp Oven Cooking Comp at Nymboida. I am having second thoughts now, it's not much fun camping in these conditions which are forecast to continue for the next few weeks right up the East coast to southern Queensland and inland, wait and see what happens over the next couple of days.

When I die I hope my missus doesn't sell my camp ovens  for what I told her I paid for them. pd

Dave, is that how your gas setup has always been as I was always of the understanding that the regulator is to be positioned above the outlet on the gas bottles??

Getting tired of the rain up here now.  Hop you don’t get heavy rain to spoil your trip

Yes Derek I was to believe that was so...but when I had the cylinders changed...I asked same thing but was told not the case as modern regulators can cope with any oil residue...been like that 5 years now...no probs with it even after 12 months not being used....very cloudy day again ...no stars at the campfire tonight...3 neighbours tonight

We had a nice sunny afternoon also; the first in over a week. The yards around here are just water logged and too wet to mow. Hopefully we will get a run of sunshine now.

I hope you get some photos of the birds Dave.

They are talking about snow up through the New England area towards southern Queensland this week.

I remember Maggie and I spent three months in Victoria once and in that time had about 5 or 6 days of sun.

It was towards the end of that trip and after we had set up in the cold and wet at Meredith Park near Colac that I returned inside the caravan freezing and wet that Maggie said to me, “You know you can’t keep doing this at your age”.   Shocked

That was when we decided to move to a motorhome.

That is a bit of a bummer Dave.  The weather certainly looks like it is closing in down there.  The snow resorts will be happy.

Well its 2023 and we havent got away this year yet...main problem is my Mum relying on us to take her everywhere...every time we think we can we cant as she has appointments....PLUS I have not been well either...got shingles" last trip last year...its cleared up but left me in lot of pain

Also my hyland hitch on our van died...locked solid ...now have a DO35 hitch...not got to use it other than getting the van home

Hope to get away end of the year....MAYBE!!!!!!

Hey Dave, you still around here.

Was thinking of you this morning when I saw a ten year old post about the Lake Ratzcastle COG.

I know it is one of your favourite spots.
