Anyone with a flat pack campfire/BBQ????

Either the Ozpig or the Choofer are getting way to big to cart around so looking at options.

Interested in the pros and cons of the flat packs.

What have you got??  Hit me up.

My brother got this one in April. Not sure exactly what brand it is, but he sounds pretty happy with it. Looks like it cooks a good steak Smiley

I have had a flat pack fire pit for some time. I have only used it as a fire pit, not for cooking on though. I never got a hot plate with the one I bought.

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/363440429870?_trkparms=ispr%3D1&hash=item549ebcdb2e:...

I think this one would be good though as it is made from stainless steel.

I have an issue though with the hot plate design for the fire pit. How would you add extra wood to the fire if needed once you fit the hotplate?

This is worth a squint:

Cheap and cheerful but cheap is the operative here...

Derek we have had an EZY Q fire pit for eighteen months or so and find it terrific for travelling. We have the 600mm long x 5mm thick stainless steel one. It is in four pieces that just slot together quick and easy. We didn't bother with a hot plate as we prefer to use our cast iron frying pans. It comes with a couple of bars to put your frying pan or camp oven on. It is also great just for keeping warm. The folks at EZY Q are great to deal with and the fire pits etc are Aussie made and Aussie owned.

I've got the Kings.
On the small side, yet does the job.
Cheap enough.

When I wea buying the one I have, I looked at the Kings fire pit and thought it might be a bit small.
If I ever buy one again it will be the Stainless 600mm one tough.

Thanks everyone for the comments.  That gives me some good ideas to start with.

Certainly do like the concept of the EZY Q with the bars across the top.

John, when I was looking online I also had that same thought about adding wood when the BBQ plate was across the top but like Jeff I think I would stick to using a cast iron camp oven and skillet to cook.

Weight is a big issue for me.  I see they basically come made with 3 mm and 5 mm steel however even the manufacturers warn of warping with the 3 mm.

More research and actually being able to handle one is required.  Thanks again.

These are currently available online for $196 delivered which seems a good price

That is a good price. We like the stainless steel over the mild steel ones.

Ended up buying the EZYQ stainless 600mm one made of 5 mm thick metal direct from EZYQ for $180 delivered.

Quite happy at that.

It is on it’s way.

This arrived today and I must say I am impressed.

Folds up to nothing and goes together in seconds, although I must pack it with some gloves as the edges are sharpish.

Haven’t had a fire in it yet but my 9 inch Billmans camp oven fits on it quite nicely.

It is made of 5 mm thick Ferritic Stainless Steel so should cope with the elements.

I am a bit soft, so I sanded all the edges of my fire pit before I used it with a flapper disk in my angle grinder.
The stainless looks flash. Smiley

Mine is 5mm thick Dave and I know a lot more that I looked at were only 3mm.

Many of the 3mm ones came with a warning that high heat could cause buckling and their remedy was to next time reverse the panels so heated from the other side.
