So a bit of a goal of mine is to eventually walk the 1000km Bibbulman Track over here in WA. Have started with a couple of smaller walks to test gear, test myself and to find what works and what doesn't work. Started with a 2km loop a few weeks ago with the family, did an 8km loop with my eldest daughter the next day (took just under 2 hours) and then a few days ago, tried the 17km Les Cousens Bridle Trail loop. Did it over 2 days to find out what camping on a hike is like. It all went pretty well, 10km day 1 and 7km day 2. Missed dinner because I laid down for a "rest" at 5pm and then woke up at midnight. Lots of rain overnight but my set up kept me dry which was one of my main concerns.

It's a few years off yet. Need to lose a few kilos for the sake of my knees and start building an effective kit.

Enjoy yourself. I tend to like more creature comforts when camping these days, you know, like a caravan.  Grin
