I’m in the early learning stage with my 8” (2 quart) camp oven. As a solo traveller, I thought the 2 quart would be big enough, but am thinking of getting a 4.5 quart as well.

I would like to try some of the delicious lamb shank recipes, which take 2.5 hours to cook. I have a Snow Peak fire pit and I use heat beads.

My question is .. as heat beads only last for about an hour, how do I manage them to cook for 2.5 hours?

Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

You should get at least an hour of good heat out of Heatbeads.  After that they start dropping off so just before the hour get a new batch going.

I use a 10" deep Lodge for single use, and it's big enough for 2 if the missus tags along.
Having a little too much room is sometimes better than having too little in my book!😋
As for the heat beads, use a chimney and prepare more heat beads when you see the first bunch beginning to dwindle.
