Hi there all you camp cooks, if you are in or around the Goomburra Valley Campground on Monday 23rd of Jan 2023, I am hosting a camp oven cooking demonstration at 10:00am and 3:00pm. Morning tea damper, scones and Anzac Biscuits and afternoon Stromboli and Golden syrup Dumplings.
Come, bring a plate for tasting and a cuppa for a chat.
Hope to see you there.

G'Day all you Camp Oven Cooks,
Was a very successful cooking Demo with lovely food. I had about 12 campers from the camp ground bring chairs and cuppas for morning and afternoon tea. I won't go into the details in this post but sufficed to say we played dodge the storm in the afternoon. For Morning tea, I made a Spiced date and Rum Damper and ANZAC Biscuits (the real ones - no coconut) and for afternoon tea, Stromboli (basically a rolled and baked pizza) with Golden Syrup Dumplings.  Unfortunately, I have no images (apart from empty plates) of the Stromboli - but it was ggoooud! but I did manage to photograph the 'Last Dumpling'. If anyone is interested I have a copy of the recipes here https://1drv.ms/f/s!Aq1uTQcSO7TPiYZEP9DHWUAZe8or1Q

To Continue....

The following day was me and I decided to try my hand at Roast Pork Sliders (crackling optional). While the Bread rolls were amazing (IMHO Wink I only managed to create a single strip of crackling that was closest to the top of the oven. More attention required to the heat required. The Roast however superb.

And a picture of my Support system for my Camp Ovens.

Time to start planning the next cook out.

I know it is the new trend but I just couldn’t eat pork that is still pink and oozing pinkish juices like that.  Embarrassed

Looks like you had a fantastic time with some great food though.

Well done.

Hi ya! As to the pinkish Roast, it had an internal temp of over 70DegC. If the pork was anything but Australian Pork from a local butcher, I’d agree. However, known source and old friend butcher, I was not going to turn it into a pale, dried out meat product. It was awesome!
Next meat will be Lamb!
