Today was a trip down to Augusta and the Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse.

The most south westerly point of WA and where the Indian and the Southern Oceans meet.

I don’t think that coastlines could be any more beautiful.

The sea was as calm as can be and we were able to stand on the waters edge on the rocks.

Dogs not allowed at the lighthouse so we didn’t go right to it.

They look after rock fishers down here.  Warning signs of the dangers, life buoys and hooks in the rocks to tie yourself to.

That gutter running up into the rocks in the last two photos has four hooks attached to the rock so must be a favourite spot.

The remains of an old water wheel that pumped water for the Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse many years ago.

All calcified up now from the limestone in the water.

Interesting photo from outside of the bakers in Augusta.

They are the Metters cast iron doors and the name plate off the original old wood fired bakers oven.

Thought it was great that they have saved them.

The other interesting fact is the plate says, Perth, Adelaide & Sydney.  That would indicate that they possibly had foundries in the three states.  Something I wasn’t previously aware of.

Hi Derek
Thanks for the photos great location.
I enjoyed that area. I remember travelling through the karri forests, and going into a underground cave in the bottom end of western australia.

Big day today.  Travelled just over 540klm. I think our biggest day for the trip.

Left the park and decided to go see Nannup, then decided to go see Manjimup.  After that we travelled all through the forests and national parks heading in a south easterly direction.

Ended up at Denmark which would have to be the most RV unfriendly place I have ever been to.  Never seen so many signs threatening big fines for overnight stopping.

So we kept going.  Bypassed Albany and ended up at the big gravel pit at Jerramungup where we stayed on the way over.

Was a good drive.  Pulled in just as the sun was going down.  One other van already here.

Hi Derek
Yes that was a big day of travelling. At least you would have been driving through great country side
Those gravel pits appear to be a good place  to stay at.

Once again in the bush camping for the night.  Just a quite off road place to pull over.  Interestingly two others here when we arrived.

Nothing here at all as far as facilities and we are about 120klm west of Esperance and the nearest settlement would be Munglinup.  But it is free.  😊

Tomorrow heading up towards Norseman, even though we won’t get that far, ready to head out again over the Nullarbor.

Well, I must say this was unexpected.  We are at Norseman.

We had a rather leisurely morning and left our little camp of last night just on 10.00 am, then just short of our planned stop I looked at the clock and it was still only 11.45 am.  Just then we passsed a sign that said Norseman 160 klm.

We had a talk about it and said, yep let’s keep going so here we are.

Back in the free RV Park. Will stay here for two nights.

Typical country town though and all the shops are shut early on Saturday.  🤣
