I think most snakes will bolt, Bonnie had one stand it ground while we were camping, it was a Large Taipan though.
We had to get an ambulance out for her, not from a bite but as she stepped back and froze and stood still, but she tore both calf muscles and she could not walk for days.

The hospital said fright can tense the muscles which did the damage. The ambulance thought it might have been a dry bite, but it was not.

I have heard of that happening to people John.

I think you may already know however I worked for a reptile park as part of a misspent youth and while not afraid of snakes I have always had a very healthy respect for taipans.

Their reflexes are second to none.

This one bolted as soon as I came around the corner of the van.

Went for a drive to Queerarrup Lake yesterday.  An oasis in the middle of nowhere.  Even has a Sandy beach.  A campground is located there.  Even has composting toilets.

Love these little old buildings.  This is the old Kenmare School near Queerarrup Lake. Lot of history here.

Further north today to Brookton.  Overnighting in the free RV Park here.

Nice spot alongside the creek/river.

No facilities here except some bins but we have our own anyway.  😊

Absolutely stoked at some of the Internet connection speeds we are getting basically in the middle of nowhere.

This is where we are now.

For us it is great as we have the new Smart TV and like to stream movies.

It was only out on the Nullarbor where we couldn’t do that.

I wasn’t quite sure about the snake ID I put up yesterday so asked on an Professional ID Page.

Turns out it was a Mainland Dugite.  Extremely dangerous and a snake I haven’t seen before.

I initially called it for a tiger due to the light barring.

There ya go.
