Hi, new member here. Wanted to know if the Billmans stack up quality wise to the older furphy's and hardings? Any significant differences etc

All depends what you want to own I think.

Hardings would have to be at the top for me.

I would put Billmans second.  Remember there are some old Billmans ovens floating around that are a different pattern to the new ones they are currently making.

Furphy, well they were the scruffiest roughest cast ovens you could ever come across.   Seems everyone wants to own one though.  Are you aware that the last batches of Australian made Furphy ovens were made by Billmans at Castlemaine.

Then again, we are all different.   Smiley

Thanks Derek. I'm looking to upgrade from the camp chef and with none of the Aussie stuff being inexpensive, I'm trying to make an informed decision. I'm not far from castlemaine so thought the Billmans might be a good option if they were good quality. Cheers Chris

Chris, in my now very small collection I have a 9” Billmans with my name cast in the lid that for just the two of us is my go to oven these days.

Quality is not bad at all.

Billmans ovens are a fair better casting quality than any Furphy Ive ever seen.
I own a Sovereign Hill oven made by Billmans, I wouldn't hesitate to buy anything that they made.
