Doing something for dinner I never ever thought I would.  Well two things actually.

First I bought a tomahawk steak.  Yep, but only a little one that weights 1.16 kilos.  You only live once.  Shocked

Secondly I am going to use a probe temperature gauge that I bought ages ago at Aldi.

It is going to be a reverse sear.  Slow cook first at a low temp on my Weber for about an hour or until it gets around 60 degrees internal.  I have the gauge set for 62 which is medium rare.  Will then let it rest for 20 minutes or so then throw it on the hot barbecue plate with lots of butter and sear it off very quickly until nicely browned up on the outside.

All I have done to it is rub with oil, salt and pepper.

It is in the Weber now.  Trying to keep it around 150 degrees.

When I first showed Maggie she said, that is meat for a week.   Grin

Part two.  Smiley

Everything went as planned.  I took it off at 61 degrees and it went up to 64 while resting.

Seared it in butter then rested again for 15 minutes.  It was cooked to perfection.

Quite impressed with the little Aldi probe.

Served with potato smothered with sour cream and chives as well as coleslaw.

Only ate about half so some for sandwiches tomorrow as well as dinner.

Chewing the bone is always good.   Cheesy

That's a good chunk of meat; would feed the two of us no problems. Smiley

One of the reasons I have never bought one before is due to the size of that bone.  Always thought of it as being very expensive bone.

These were on special last week at IGA for $29.99 a kilo so thought I would have a go.

Derek
Now do not give the bone to the dogs because it would take both of them over a week to dig a big enough hole to put it in Grin Grin Grin
