Mrs Rabz has been talking about getting a small hybrid camper like a Jayco Penguin.

I came across some walkthroughs of the Jayco JPOD Sport and Outback.

Has anyone come across one in the flesh?

I realise they are "compact" but are they too compact?

I think the first thing I would do is fit a 270° awning but other than that, any ideas?

My neighbour has a penguin for sale.
I've seen Jpods out and about, they are small.

As with all these things, apparently overnight, the pendulum has swung back to a Penguin.

(as you would appreciate I have decided to let this all oscillate until we actually have the funds and the opportunity to use it...)  Grin Cheesy Roll Eyes

So, apparently, we bought a Jayco Penguin Outback today.

I am not entirely sure how as we were "just going to see what they are like".

Delivery is in October.

Still no idea how it all went down.   Cheesy Roll Eyes

Well done.

I know that feeling.

We went for a walk around Jayco in Coffs Harbour.  We sat down in a Motorhome, I looked at Maggie, she looked at me and we both basically said,  this one will do.   A week later we drove it home.  Grin Grin Grin Grin

It's the options that are of concern to me...

Air con and a hot water heater with shower... in a pop top.

I did manage to put the kybosh on the sound system, TV and having Jayco fit the electric brake controller to the ute...

Buy once. Cry once I suppose.

I always say think long and hard about any options.  Often much easier and often cheaper to fit during construction than later.

If there was an option of FFBNW (fitted for but not with) on the sound system and TV, that would be OK. However, given a lifetime of running cables and wiring stuff up, I should be ok. Smiley

I gather the shower is external and is a tent that attaches to the outside... I get hot water plumbed into the sink, but an external shower means issues capturing grey water. I guess it would only be used when remote camping.

We have a couple of months to nut it out.
