A question concerning Engel and other types of 12v/240 fridges.
Ive recently hooked up a solar panel to the roof of the camper which in turn is connected to a 175ah Lithium battery.
Currently running two Engels, one I found at a garage sale and bought for $20 -$25 , It hasn't missed a beat in the last 5-6 years that Ive had it but it does seem to draw excess power, compered to the newer one that I own. Plan 1 was to use the old one as a fridge, the newer and smaller one as a freezer. Problem with this Idea is that I'm running two fridges, one of which seems to use more power than it should, even without that problem, two fridges will use more power than one.
For the above reasons I'm thinking of upgrading to one of the Engel 57L or 75L Combi Fridge Freezers.

Have any of you had any experience with these Engel Fridges with the freezer ? How well do they work? do they tend to freeze the food in the fridge compartment as its right along side the freezer? These are things I'm interested to know before spending money.
I can get the members discount but BCF also price match , If anyone can find a better price let me know.
I'm also open to suggestions of other brands of fridge/ freezer as long as they are a quality product that last.
At least with the Engels you get a five year warranty for your money , do other fridges offer the same ?

No personal experience Rory, but have not heard any bad reports on them either.

Engel have always been top quality fridges.

Rory, when we were talking the other day I mentioned my son has the Waeco fridge/freezer.  I understand that Dometic have bought them out.

BCF do carry them as in the link.

What appeals to me is the dual lid.  You are not opening the whole lid just to get to the freezer only.  Prices comparable to the Engel.

Thanks for the info Derek. I ended up going the whole hog and bought one of these.

BCF price matched a shop selling them in Brisbane so that saved me around $250.
Dont really need a fridge atm, could just leave food on van floor. Grin
If I didn't have other plans already Id head toward the tablelands to see if I could find some snow.

Looks good Rory.  We have the flu or we would be out there somewhere looking for the white stuff.
