Another crocodile we saw out in the wetlands.  This one was a couple of hundred metres away.  Looked to be about 2.5 metres long.

Maggie was surprised at the colouring on them.

Fish and chips out on Stokes Hill Wharf for dinner.  Was a very pleasant evening.

All packed and organised ready to depart Darwin tomorrow.

Next stop Kakadu. Will be staying in Jabiru at a caravan park. Have purchased our National Park Passes.  Did a big shop this afternoon as heading south from Jabiru.

Darwin has been fabulous.  While the afternoons have been a little warm the mornings and evenings have been beautiful.  We have seen and done all that we intended and more and Maggie getting to see the two wild crocodiles really topped it off.

We are at the Aurora Kakadu Lodge Caravan Park, Jabiru.  Nice big park with hardly anyone here.  Have included a photo of the park outline.  It is all circular.  Over 180 powered sites and only about a quarter full at present.

Premium price at $62 a night.

Very dry and dusty up here.

High tide at Cahill Crossing at 3.30 so heading out there shortly to see the crocodiles.

Hi Derek
Thanks for the photos. It looks like a nice park. Make sure you do not bring home and strange passengers in the car.
regards Kev.

Sad this afternoon to see Jabiru turning into a ghost town.  Most of the town square abandoned and fenced off.  Heaps and heaps of houses empty.  The old FIFO Villages abandoned.

Kind of reminded me of Mary Kathleen and I wonder if someday this place will also be torn down and abandoned.

We caught high tide at Cahills Crossing today to see if the crocs were active.  We were not disappointed.  At one stage Maggie counted 19 of the big buggers.

They hang around the crossing at high tide grabbing fish coming over it.

A woman on the WikiCamps App said her family saw more crocs here than on the $450 tour they went on.

I took dozens of photos and these are just a few.

When we were at Cahills Crossing there were two blokes fishing right at the waters edge.  Totally oblivious to the dozen or so crocs lurking just metres away.

Maybe they were locals with an understanding of things or maybe just numbnuts.

They did catch a big catfish though.   Grin
