This is Bandangalang Billabong in Kakadu. There can be both crocs and buffalo here but none sighted today.

The time we spent there I estimate I identified around 30 species of birds, mostly water birds.

I am 73 in three weeks or so and reckon I went well to walk the ups and downs of the escarpment as well as the lookout at Burrungkuy (Nourlangie Rock).

My bones will feel it later but I am going to invest in a proper walking pole

A lot of Aboriginal Art as well as caves and crevices. Here are just some of them.

When we first looked at coming to Jabiru I was told you cannot book a site in the caravan park, just turn up.

We did and the guy in the office said they don’t allocate a site, just drive around and pick on.

I did however see this sign which gave me a chuckle.

Today we started our trek south and are currently at the Alexander Forrest Roadside Rest Area about 40 klm south of Larrima on the Stuart Highway.

Our major stops south will be Alice Springs, Uluru and Coober Pedy.

Will post up pics of tonights camp tomorrow as very little internet here.

Pulled up for a break south of Jabiru this morning and spied this old part buffalo skull in a tree. Stank like crazy it did so it’s still there. Grin

Last night stopped at Bonney Well Rest Area about 50 klm south of Tennant Creek.

Nice big roadside rest area but no internet. I did have satellite texting through Telstra.

Tonight we are at the Alice Springs Showground. A nice big grass site with power and water alongside the amenities building.

Last three days we travelled a total 1490 kilometres.
