Last night I was watching some King Brown YouTube videos.  In one he made the claim that cooking bread and damper is more reliable in a bigger camp oven.

Does anyone else subscribe to this theory?

His explanation of easier heat regulation and more steam in the camp oven sounds plausible.

Then today a 12Qt Chinese camp oven came up on a caravan parts website for $39.99 with $46.00 postage. So, around 14" I think and it has legs. It is larger than my other cast iron oven (at 12").

My wife said it would be good for cooking in our fireplace in the orchard.

I now have a hole in my wallet and a new camp oven on the way.   Roll Eyes Smiley

That is a good buy for a 14”.

I don’t agree with Ron on that as I have always used a 12” for dampers.

I was surprised when my Mrs suggested buying it.. Maybe she enjoyed cooking on the fire last weekend.

We have a series of visitors coming over the next couple of months, so a bigger oven will be handy in any case.

Colin, I have always said you can cook a little meal in a big oven but you can’t cook a big meal in a little oven.  Smiley

I did have a 22 inch once but my biggest these days is a 16 inch.
