Had a call from Poddy this morning telling me that tickets are now on sale for this.
At this stage I'll be there and so will Poddy and Wife.
Anyone else interested?
Last time I left it till late to purchase my ticket so had to settle for what ever was available.
Getting in early means less leg work to get back and forth from camp to the main event.
If a few of us turn up it would be nice if we can all be in one area.

Well we didn't get to Tasmania for all sorts of reasons so just sitting here talking and looks like a day trip for us on Saturday to have a wander around up there.

We drove up this morning to have a look.

Must say I was disapointed at the gate.  When I looked the other day tickets were advertised on their website as $35 each plus a $1.50 online booking fee plus 2% card surcharge.  For the two of us that would round out to $72.93.  I thought nah I’ll pay at the gate.

As everyone knows card surcharges were removed on 1 October.  The Festival unknown to me then lifted their prices to $40 each entry.  At the gate I just shook my head in amazement.

The festival itself was the usual camp oven affair however lots of market stalls were selling what I consider junk.

I didn’t see the festival branded camp ovens but was told they were marked as $400 each.

The camp oven cooking displays by Kingbrown, The Camp Oven Cook and Ranger Nick were all.   Good and it was great to get, albeit very short, the opportunity to say g’day to them. Even got a taste of Kingbrown’s damper.

Ranger Nick was busy working on his world record attempt to create the largest ever meat loaf in the shape of Australia.  He did lift the lid for me and it looked great and smelled even better.

Was great to finally get the opportunity to have a chat with Michael Patch who was doing the camp oven catering for the Festival in his large camp ovens.  On the go for lunch today he had honey mustard chicken and curried sausages.  He was saying that yesterday they had 50 kilos of roast pork on the go in just one of his 36 inch camp ovens.

Was great to catch up with and spend some time with Rory sampling some salami and Honey mead.  Maggie ended up bringing half a bottle home.

Rory and a mate had one of the best ever displays you are likely to see of cast iron camp ovens and other cast iron pots.

Beginner, Intermediate and Champion camp oven cooks were out and about around campfires and smells were good.  We did see the results of the beginners damper and scones and there were some nice looking edible goodies there.

Here are some of the photos I took.
