My wife (Toni) is laid up after foot surgery, so I was entrusted with the weekly shopping.

"Get a BBQ chook too" was shouted to me as I headed out the door.

"Yeah Nah" was my reply.  Cool

King Brown's Pub Chicken, well that is to say, my take on it, is well underway...

I also got the fixings for a paella, the Hairy Bikers Spanish Chicken and a huge slab of rump.

If I am cooking, then I am cooking my way!  Grin

I am with you.  Those BBQ chickens are now priced through the roof.  Can get a fresh one for nearly half the price at times.

Not only that, look on the label and see what they put in and on them.    Shocked Shocked Shocked

Looks like you are going to have a good outcome.

A comment after seeing your photo.  When I first started experimenting with Heatbeads back in the 70’s it was after cooking a roast in my old Weber Kettle.

The thought came to me as to why can’t I just sit a camp oven in there.  I did that with my old Bedourie and then it expanded to the Heatbeads top and bottom as we do today.

King Brown's method never fails to turn out a great chook.

I wish I knew where my late 70's Bedourie ended up. It was battered and beat up but it kept on keeping on.

Now that looks spot on.

Still have my 1970’s Bedourie.  Was the first camp oven I ever bought.
