Had a baking afternoon today.  Loaf of white bread, 12 mini meat pies in a muffin pan and two normal size meat pies.

Some of the pies shall be frozen for laters.   Tongue

Little pies vacuum sealed in twos and into the freezer.

Will be great lunch snacks or with veggies for dinner.

Yesterday must have been the day for baking.

I knocked out a couple of bacon bread batards for a shindig at a neighbours place last night.

Once again the yeast took its time, instead of a total of 3 hours of proving, it took almost 6.

I even put a hot wheat bag under the proving bowl!

The first batch I did of this bread went nuts, the last two have been drawn out affairs—I will need to experiment with different yeast and different doses.

Even with the delays it all came out nicely—As soon as the bread landed on the breadboard on the table it started to disappear.  Both loaves got demolished in short order!

Colin, it was a coolish day here and my bread took just on an hour for the final rise in the bread tin.  Usually only takes 40 minutes.  I said to Maggie at one stage I should put the aircon on to heat.   Grin Grin Grin Grin

For my first rises and when doing the slap and stretch I always put the bowl in the sink with hot tap water.  That gets it going.
