I am making jam and have been digging jars out of a cupboard when I came across this.

I only have a vague memory of putting these down.  They are raisins in pure brandy.

But the thing is they must have been sitting there unopened for around three years.  I must of back then had a plan to make some booked sort of cake or muffin and then forgotten all about it.

They smell and look good.

Would you eat them???

As long as the jars were sealed they'll be OK.  Alcohol is a great preservative and keeping any oxy gen out would help.

Remember that spirits don't go off and many spirits have fruit content.

The only concerns I would have is infected yeast but there would be bubbles.

Try a couple.  If you aren't dead within four hours they're probably good  Grin

Aged Raisins in brandy. Probably worth a lot more now. They would definitely get sampled in this house. Certainly look OK in the picture.

hi Derek
Staying alive staying alive

Talking about being alive I just got a telephone call from a nurse from Sunnybank private hospital checking in on me to see if I was OK after my visit

Ive got some of Jonnos grandmothers Mango chutney here in the cupboard that I made about 6 years ago ....2 jars left out of about 20.
Been eyeing them off lately but not sure, they do look ok.
Do you want to be the Guinea pig and test one of those Derek?
