Migaloo the white humpback whale.  As close as I ever got to him.

Photo taken from Point Danger on Gold Coast with my Sony camera and 83x optical zoom lens - 2016

I was sitting listening to the radio and they announced that Migaloo had been sighted south of the Gold Coast and was heading north so said to Maggie, let’s go and we bolted for the coast.  Smiley

Is that a newish thing at Archer Point Derek?
Im sure Ive been there more than once but didnt see it.
But then I didnt go to the end of the track either ...only as far as the old rotting wharf for a fish.
Maybe I should have gone further up the track.

Rory, there was always a lighthouse there on the high point just north of the old jetty.

The original was an old wooden structure that was demolished in mid seventies I believe.  Photo below of it from 1917.  Was a timber covered in corrugated iron apparently.

I certainly do not remember anything of it when I was there in the 60’s but do remember we drove up to it.

Maggie and my first night out in our then new caravan in 2012.  This was Beardy Creek Rest Area just north of Glenn Innes.

Temperature got down to minus 6.5 degrees that morning and the ground was frozen.  Couple of weeks later I installed a diesel heater.
